CRI are currently looking for candidates to support a client engaged in offshore excavation operations. The technology is new but based on existing SMD MV drive technology so experience in trenching and support of similarly powered assets is required.

Electric Controlled Flow equipment Offshore Technician
Reporting to
Team Leader
Purpose / Role
The purpose of the role, as part of KDM’s offshore service delivery department, is to provide hands on technical, maintenance and fault finding support offshore to it CFE clients. Reporting to the project Team Leader you will ensure the equipment is operated and maintained correctly, ensuring the highest possible uptime. Assistance during deployment and recovery operations and operating sonar/excavator equipment as and when required.
Onshore and offshore, you may be required to take on responsibility for support tasks typical within an offshore service company. These may include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with equipment maintenance or development programmes
- Compilation of project maintenance documentation
- Liaison with onshore support and taking instructions during fault finding
Prime Role and Duties
Duties include but are not limited to supporting product life cycle activities such as:
- Mobilisation
- Dry and wet testing
- Offshore operations support, monitoring and maintenance of equipment
- Onshore maintenance of equipment
Responsibilities & Authority
Support of the crew on shift (whether employed or contractor) to ensure:
- Safety of personnel, equipment and the environment is the top priority at all times.
- All work is completed to our clients standards and procedures and in accordance with our commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management standards.
- Crew maintain high standards of performance and behaviour both offshore and onshore.
- Client Management: Efficiency and excellent communication skills.
- Task Management: Thorough understanding of any project requirements.
- Problem Solving: Organising on-site solutions to any problems that may occur.
- Communication: Compile operational and maintenance reports detailing all activities, working parameters, and system status.
Main objectives are to keep the equipment fully functional, repairing if necessary, plus to provide some operational support and advice to customers operations personnel.
Core Competences
Ideal candidates will possess the following:
- Essential experience in co-pilot role with SMD's SCADA/PLC systems with DVECS, most applicable assets are WROV's and Q-Trenchers. Candidates must be familiar with the systems and have management and execution of maintenance to keep the assets at high availability. Any experience with surveillance and survey packages is added benefit, particularly in the field of cable and pipeline trenching.
- Commitment to always working safely whilst providing quality customer service.
- Capability to achieve and maintain all relevant offshore safety, survival and medical certification.
- A formal technical qualification in Electrical or Multidisciplinary Engineering.
- Experience of working with SMD or similar equipment either offshore or in the factory environment beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think analytically and ability to prioritise effectively.
- Good team player with a flexible attitude to the needs of the operations schedule.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) with strong customer facing skills.
- Willingness to travel globally with, at times, very short notice and significant periods spent away from home.
- Understanding of the importance of submitting timely and accurate reports at all times.
- Ability to lead/assist offshore teams during system mobilisation and operations.
- Experience of offshore operations and a practical knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment and safe working practices in an offshore environment.
- Understanding & Experience of HV systems, PLC control systems and Inverter drives.
